NCG is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Sida Framework Agreement for Democracy and Human Rights in consortium with NCG Sweden, Tana Copenhagen and Trodomundos. The Consortium has established cooperation with the recognized research institutes: The Quality of Government (QoG) Institute at the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg and researchers in the Network of Development Studies, who are staff of the Department of Government and the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at University of Uppsala.

The Framework includes the following thematic sub-areas:

• Local Democracy and Decentralization

• Political Institutions, Political Participation and Pluralist Civil Society

• Public Financial Management

• State building, Public Institutions and Public Administration

• Human Rights Systems, Human Rights Defenders and Rule of Law • Equal Rights and Non-Discrimination

NCG has been awarded the contract for Review of DIGNITY: Danish Institute against Torture. The review is part of a regular oversight set out in the cooperation agreement between the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Danish Institute against Torture. The review comes against a backdrop of change and growth during the past decade.

The objective of the review is to analyze and assess the overall capacity and performance of DIGNITY’s work under the cooperation agreement with MFA in the years from 2015 – 2019. The review will include an assessment as to whether the recommendations from the review in 2015 and subsequent annual consultations have been followed up on to a satisfactory degree.

The team leader of this assignment is NCG Partner Theresia Kirkemann, together with Rehabilitation and Development Research Expert Helen McColl, and Financial Management and Programme Administration Expert, Mette Bjarløv, with QA from NCG Partner Frank Runchel. The assignment includes both home-based assistance and field missions.
Yesterday (10th of April 2019), Nordic Consulting Group Denmark was honored to host a seminar with Mr. Yasuo Konishi on 1) The Greening Maize: Value Chain -Greenhouse Gas Emission Analysis and 2) Refugee Integration into the Corporate Supply Chain. Mr. Konishi is recognized for his pioneering work in the field of development, particularly in bringing together corporations with international organizations to tackle market and supply systems challenges in developing and emerging markets. Mr. Konishi offered appreciated insights from his work with Global Development Solutions, LLC (GDS) on developing value chain analyses to maximize profits and minimize greenhouse gas emissions, as well as innovative perspectives on how major corporations can incorporate refugees into their corporate supply chain. Some of the topics touched upon during the seminar include, 1) Government Support and its Relation to Increased Maize Production in Ethiopia, VCA-GHG Analysis of Smallholder Farms in Amhara, Factors Influencing Maize Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Strategies and Recommendations for Mitigating GHG Emissions while Increasing Production, as well as 2) General Approaches on how Companies can Engage Tier 1 Suppliers to Hire Refugees, Examples of Initiatives Undertaken by Brand owners to Address Social Inclusion, Human Rights and Environmental Issues and Arguments and Methods in Engaging Tier 2 Suppliers and Beyond in the Integration of Refugees. Thank you to Mr. Yasuo Konishi and guests from both the public and private sector, who participated in creating an interesting and dynamic event.
NCG has recently been awarded the Review and Capacity Assessment of Danish Refugee Council (DRC). The general objective of the consultancy is to assess DRC’s capacity and performance in delivering results under its engagement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), with the aim to stimulate learning and support relevant organisational development.

The specific objectives are to:

  • Assess and validate programmatic results documentation by DRC for the period 2015-2018, based on a sample.
  • Assess DRC’s overall strategic, organisational, programmatic and financial management capacity to achieve the results put forward in DRC’s engagement with the MFA.
The NCG team consists of Anne-Lise Klausen as Team Leader and Organisational Development Expert, Lone Bildsøe Lassen as Programme and Results Management Expert and Jonas Lövkrona as Financial Management Expert. The assignment includes desk-reviews, meetings, interviews and field missions to conduct research, gather information and issue recommendations.  The field missions will be carried out in Jordan, Iraq and Kenya.

NCG currently conducts an evaluation in Bangladesh of Danish support to farmer groups. They increase and diversify production, improve their nutrition and market surplus through voluntary associations.

The NCG partner on this project is Steffen Johnsen as Agricultural Expert, and Louise Smed as Research Assistant - under supervision of Team Leader Carsten Schwensen, and with Eva Broegaard as M&E expert.
