Plan International Tanzania, in collaboration with Policy Research for Development (REPOA), Child Dignity Forum (CDF), Plan International and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) carried out the “National Survey on the Drivers and Consequences of Child Marriage in Tanzania” and the objective of this consultancy was to do a popularized version of the report and a child-friendly summary report. The original study was based on data collected in 10 regions representing high, average and low prevalence rates of child marriage and the data comprised a household survey with 3,299 study participants, 199 in-depth key informant interviews, and focus group discussions with 190 participants. Based on the findings of the study, the summary report presents key causes of child marriage, discusses prevalence and most affected girls, consequences of child marriage, gaps and challenges to be addressed to prevent child marriage as well as recommendations for further work to prevent child marriage in Tanzania.
