Review of 3F's Regional Programme for Southern Africa
Review of 3F's Regional Programme for Southern Africa
3F's (United Federation of Danish Workers- FFF) has operated development programmes in Southern Africa since the 1990s. This third regional programme (2013-2014) covers the sectors Agriculture, Construction, the Food and Beverage Industry and Hospitality in Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The overall Objective is: Trade unions in Southern Africa play an active role as civil society organisations, and are contributing to achieving respect for workers' rights, more social equality, a better functioning democratic life, and improved living and working conditions of male and female workers.
The programme operates in all four sectors in the three countries through direct partnerships with sector trade unions. In addition, the programme supports regional cross-country sector-based networks through two Global Union Federations (GUFs): International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations (IUF) and Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI). 3F is preparing a more long-standing and broader programme with Danida framework funding from 2015.
