The consultant team participated in a pre-programming mission for "Support to democratic local governance and peace building in the MENA region" which was a pilot project in Tunisia 2012. A follow-up is expected in 2013-2015.

The purpose of the mission was to analyze the set-up, approach, and outcomes so far from two pilot projects which are being implemented through the VNGi/CILG in Tunisia during 2012. (Support to Democratization and Local Governance pilot project, financed by the Netherlands, and Support to Economic Development and Employment Creation, financed by Denmark).

More specifically, the team was expected to provide the necessary information to make it possible for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to decide on a possible co-financing of the next phase of the project in Tunisia. As such, the team was expected to provide a short and concise report comprising the main findings, conclusions and recommendations of the PPM, including the need for the assistance, local ownership, effectiveness in relation to the objectives, assumptions and risks, transparency, viability and sustainability, and the co-financing options.
