This assignment was a capacity analysis of the Danish Family Planning Association

In September 2010 the Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA) submitted a concept note to MFA for a thematic programme for "Women's Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in South Asia" (WHRAP) and at the same time presented a proposal for funding under the HIV and AIDS/Women in Africa pool for Promoting Family Planning for Gender Equality and Development - an East African Regional Advocacy Project.

As the latter was found to represent a full-fledged programme building on the experience from South Asia, it was suggested to DFPA to merge the activities into one programme.

A capacity assessment of DFPA and an appraisal of the proposed programme was undertaken in order to inform the further decision making process. The capacity assessment/appraisal had two overall objectives:

1) to examine the extent to which DFPA has the professional and administrative capacity to carry out the MFA supported development activities within the proposed programme approach and consider the full existing and planned portfolio of the organisation.

2) To assess the relevance and strategy of the proposed thematic programme including considerations of activities by other stakeholders and good/best practices within the main focus areas and internationally.
