Marina has more than 18 years of experience in the area of governance as a researcher, consultant and team leader. She has extensive practical and analytical experience with anti-corruption mechanisms, the roles and functions of political parties and parliaments, in particular public accounts and budget control committees; integrity systems and citizens' voice; and accountability.
Marina holds a M.Sc. in Public Administration and has been employed in long-term postings in EU institutions among others in the Budget Control Committee in the European Parliament (1997-2004) and as an anti-corruption advisor in Uganda (2006-2008). As a consultant, she has undertaken formulations, appraisals, reviews and evaluations of governance projects and programmes and has facilitated institutional partnerships. She has been lead researcher on national integrity system reports and studies, and designed diagnostic tools for mapping of governance. Marina has trained state and non-state actors in integrity measures and project and programme development and has designed and facilitated e-learning courses.
